Reclusive and fiercely independent Michigan band Media Burn weaves an intricate web of dense noisepop on both of their ambitious and well-crafted studio albums. Featuring guitarist/ multi-instrumentalist Doug Hamilton and the mesmerizing vocals and lyrics of Johanna Blanchard, Media Burn spawned in 2000 out of boredom with the sad state of the current "alternative" music scene, and the realization that there weren't any bands playing the kind of music they wanted to hear. Before long, they were in a studio putting together an impressive debut album, Deformity follows Dysfunction (2002), a bold 14-song web of intricate noisepop, filling a musical void somewhere between My Bloody Valentine, early Public Image Ltd, and Sonic Youth.

With their epic 2nd album Virtual Love, produced by Kevin Brown, the band expands their sound to cover a wider swath of musical territory. The result is a pungent and addictive 18-song musical concoction that flows effortlessly from experimental psychedelia to noise rock to hook-laden dreampop. It's all in an effort to pleasure the listener in every way imaginable.
